in The Big Puppy, TV

Walter White

As of two weeks ago, I had never seen an episode of Breaking Bad. I knew it was supposed to be one of the best shows on TV, but since I didn’t know what I was missing, it didn’t bother me.  (If I’d never tasted lobster, I wouldn’t be clamoring to eat a giant underwater insect. That’s a solid analogy, right?)

But then I saw an ad for the new season and decided I would start watching.  I prepped by Netflicksing (is too a verb) the first few episodes, and they were terrific. Bryan Cranston was great, as usual.

When the new episodes started, I’d  jump in and figure things out.  (I missed the first few seasons of The Sopranos since I didn’t have cable, and I survived.  I just asked annoying questions for a while.)

So that was my plan regarding Breaking Bad, until The Big Puppy got wind of it.  He wigged out.  Said I couldn’t watch unless I saw every previous episode.

I tried to explain about, oh, having a life.

No dice.  He was horrified.  It ate at him.  He brought it up the next day to tell me so.

I reminded him that if I neglected Mooch to watch a few years of reruns, she’d probably go rogue and turn the neighborhood kids into a feral wolf pack.

The Big Puppy didn’t care.  Apparently, jumping on the Breaking Bad train was a more serious offense than turning our suburb into Lord of the Flies.

I gave in. In the past two weeks, I watched 47 episodes.  And except for the guilt over completely abandoning my family, home, job and writing, I loved every minute.

It’s that good.

Jesse Pinkman likes magnets Yeah, bitch! MAGNETS! OH!!

Author’s Note:  Jesse Pinkman, one of the best characters on the show, wields the word “bitch” like Obi Wan does a light saber.  He uses the bitchforce like a Jedi Master.  This clip will make no sense without context, but trust me, it’s awesome.  Bryan Cranston was great on Malcolm in the Middle and as  Tim Watley on Seinfeld, but at the moment, I’m on team Jesse.

Note on the Author’s Note: if you click on that Seinfeld link, above, and watch all the way to the end, you’ll see Debra Messing (Grace, on Will & Grace) get off a great line.

Now I’m sad.

I want you to live here to watch TV with me.

It would be so wonderful.

Yes!

Congratulations Beeyotch!

I LOVE this show.

And I admit to lusting after Jesse just a little bit.
