Is It Just Me? Vol. 22: The New Muppets Movie

December 2, 2011

in Is It Just Me?, Movies, TV

Was it slow and kind of… grim?  Depressing?  Or is it just me?

Don’t get me wrong, I laughed out loud a  dozen or more times.  Jason Segel and Amy Adams were fine, the Muppets were their Muppety (yes it’s a word; I checked my O.E.D.) ((OK, I’m lying.)) and it even had a cameo by one of my favorites — Alan Arkin (there were a million cameos, but I won’t spoiler ’em), yet I left feeling a bit hollowed out.

Mooch said she gave it 4 stars, which surprised me, since she seemed very stoic throughout.  And that’s not my kid.  So I assumed she was bored or zoned out.  But in talking afterwards, she totally understood the story and knew there were jokes aimed at me and not her, but wasn’t troubled by it.

I think this one might just be me, so if you’re a Muppet fan, by all means go.  Just report back, OK?

I loved the movie! I liked how, instead of picking up with a Muppets movie as if they were never “gone,” they reintroduced them to the younger generation and worked that into the movie.

Very cute, very endearing, very Muppety. :)

My kids loved it too!
